Michael grew up in Dassenhoek. This area was the scene of fierce conflict between the local political parties and at the tender age of 6 years, in 1982, his father was shot and murdered. He grew up with his mother on his grandfathers property.
Michael has completed Grade 12 at school and is fluent in both Zulu and English. Today Pastor Michael is responsible for the Bux Farm Church which is a rural community 5 kilometres north of the Eagles Rest Mission.
This community was once under tremendous bondage to Islam through the influence of the Indian trading stores and witchcraft. It has been through prayer and intercession that these strongholds have been broken.
The Bux Farm Church has a pre-school as well as a weekly feeding scheme which feeds 160 children and 40 moms. A 100 seater church has been built from gum poles, asbestos roofing and wooden pallets which have been covered with masonite. This community has no water or electricity and unemployment is a major problem.
Mike is a gentle quiet spoken man when he is not in the pulpit. He is an excellent preacher and gets his point across with wonderful stories and much laughter.
