Petrus was born in Jozini (Zululand) in a village called Ubombo. He grew up in a Christian environment in the Mthunzini area and is currently 50 years of age. Petrus is married to Isabel who is a primary school teacher and the Lord has blessed them with two daughters. At a tent crusade in June 1990 he encountered the Lord and made his profession of faith in Jesus Christ. There was a transformation in his life and he began to serve the Lord earnestly. In 1991 he moved to the town of Mandeni, where he currently resides with his family.
He planted the church in a rural township at Isithebe on the periphery of Mandeni last year in 2014. He has a pastoral ministry and a huge gift of hospitality. He serves under the leadership of Jimson Mthembu who has a team of Churches in the surrounding areas. Petrus is a crucial part of the well being of this team of pastors and Churches. He faithfully makes the 100 kilometre journey to Durban each month for the leadership development training we have at the House of Prayer. Petrus is humble and gentle man who has dedicated himself to serve his community. The church currently has a membership of 40 with a variety of different ministries covering children, youth, women and men’s ministries.
His vision is to see his community living Godly lives and growing in the knowledge of God and in their spiritual journey. The vision of the church is to glorify God by going into the community to reach and disciple the lost, identifying needs and then releasing the called to minister. He also has a passion to serve other local Churches and pastors in the surrounding communities.
