Dear Live Connection Friends and Partners
Have you ever wondered what that first Good Friday was like? Knowing the story as we do, it really is impossible to imagine how those disciples were feeling. The desolation and devastation as Jesus was led away and….. crucified?
Surely, this must have felt like a nightmare from which they would soon awake and find it was all a horrid dream.. But No, there He was – on the cross… and then, the all-enveloping darkness, in the middle of the day? No wonder…
“..the whole crowd who came together to that sight, seeing what had been done, beat their breasts and returned. But all His acquaintances, and the women who followed Him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things.” Luke 23:48-49.
Unlike those first disciples, we know that on Sunday the tomb will be empty and I pray that we won’t just be part of the crowd that stand at a distance, but that we will be able to share the wonderful message that Jesus is alive and encourage and rejoice with those who need to hear it most.
Here is a wonderful example from Davies Musawa, one of our Zambian Pastors
Last week as I was sharing the gospel with a couple in the village, not knowing that they had recently lost the husband’s brother to Covid19, the husband, who at first was not willing to listen to us, asked me, “How can God be allowing such terrible diseases taking people’s lives?”. God gave me the grace to explain the extent of His love. I said, it is because of our own sin that our bodies are being subjected to such kind sufferings. However, because of his love, He sent Jesus his Son to die on the cross for us. Everyone who put their trust in him will, even though they die, receive the newly glorified bodies and live for ever with God. This will happen if only you believe. After taking time explaining more of this, the couple was convinced, they all gave their lives to Jesus.
Thankfully, they came to church last Sunday. They have also joined a cell group were other believers meet for prayers and Bible studies. Pray that the cell groups will continued being established in every place where people are found.
Thank you for your ongoing support – You truly are making a difference!
Blessings,
